Ownership of some exotic pets requires a permit. Permits, or permit applications must be presented at the time the appointment is scheduled.
All exotic pets, regardless of age and species, must be transported in a secure locked enclosure, and then transferred to one of our squeeze cages in a specific safe examination room in our clinic. After the transfer, the veterinary team will administer a light sedative to allow reduced-stress handling, and ensure the safety of both the animal and the veterinary team. Exceptions for transfer to the squeeze cage and sedation are very young animals, or very sick pets where sedation is not necessary. This determination will be at the veterinarian’s discretion without exceptions.
